Event Description : Vidya presents Shankar Mahadevan Live.

Who in India is not familiar with the name of Shankar Mahadevan! There's hardly a music lover ( classical, folk or film) who doesn't hum his tunes or sing his songs. The award winning composer and singer has a pan Indian popularity and global reach and recognition.

Shankar Mahadevan started the Academy with the underlying philosophy of teaching and learning of music through 'the joy of music', using an online platform for music lovers throughout the world. The Academy has a presence in 47 countries and has conducted over 39,000 virtual classes in Hindustani classical, Carnatic and film music. Over 5000 students are enrolled with the Academy.
The 'Shankar Mahadevan Nite' will bring together a one-of-a-kind musical collaboration between the renowned singer-composer and the children of the VIDYA schools of Delhi and Gurgaon.

VIDYA is an NGO working in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune. It has 30+ centres and schools. Over the past 3 decades it has endeavored to provide excellent holistic education to children from humble, less privileged backgrounds. VIDYA undertakes many other social programs like youth and women empowerment through skills, computer literacy and bridge course instruction for school dropouts.


The 'Shankar Mahadevan Nite' is being organised to commemorate and celebrate VIDYA completing 30 years of yeoman service to the motherland. It plans to raise resources through the event for scholarships and freeships for deprived but deserving children.
