Event Description : Prism Theatre Society presents "A Mother's a Mother" Multilingual play adapted from an Italian play 'Filumena Marturano'.
Synopsis : The moving story of an iron-willed woman's life as she experiences destitution, exploitation, hopelessness, love, motherhood and happiness - all in a single lifetime. Watch the journey of Marina recounted by the old and faded Marina and her gangster lover of 25 years with a roving eye. It is a story of hope, and the strength of a mother's affection which can make her fight tremendous odds.
Review : What sets this play apart from the usual theatre scene that I had played spectator to is the creative brilliance of direction - the outstanding blend of crude Haryanvi dialect, Hindi and English amid a potpourri of emotional highs that stir your creative cauldron. What also appeals is the conscious clarity to steer clear from splurging into emotional overdoses and the unfathomable blend of the real and surreal. And the best part is while you take a leave, your eyes are moist with a melange of positive emotions crowding your heart as you still try settling into the two-hour long frenzy. - Swagato Mallick
