Event Description : "Uttistha Bharata" Multimedia Dance Drama in Sutradhar Style of Kathak by Dr Neelam Verma
Based on Shrimad Bhagavad Gita
In the battlefield of Kurukshetra, just before commencement of Mahabharata, Arjuna was overwhelmed with grief and pathos. In spite of being an ace warrior, he discarded his armaments and refused to fight. He expressed his confusion to Shri Krishna and asked for His advice. Shri Krishna was his Sakhaa and had taken up the responsibility to be his charioteer. Like a proficient psychotherapist, Yugpurush Krishna initiated a healing dialogue with Arjuna to help him get over his dilemma and rise to perform his duty. Their conversation is compiled by Seer Ved Vyas in form of Bhagavad Gita. In spite of having been spoken 5000 years ago, Its wisdom is profound and inspirational.
During the conversation, the word Bharata is used as a synonym for Arjuna (A descendant of Bharat Dynasty).
At a deeper level Bharata is a metaphor for the consciousness of youth to whom Shri Krishna wanted to communicate across Space and Time.
Uttistha Bharata, the Dance Drama by Dr Neelam Verma explores the mystical layers of Cosmic, Psychic and Karmic Science of The Gita. The insight sharpens our intellect and guards us against anxiety, panic and depression we face in our daily life. It prepares us to perform our duty with fearless, selfless and unconditional commitment. It guides us to find peace and solace within our own heart. Performed in Sutradhar style of Kathak, this innovative stage presentation includes visual illustrations along with multimedia insertions.
The poetic adaptation of The Gita: Uttistha Bharata is by Dr Neelam Verma. For this work she has received the prestigious literary award "Kavita Vidushi" by KALPTARU for the year 2000.
