Synopsis:Ghulam Sabir Nizami and Ghulam Waris Nizami are well-known Qawwali singers of our country.
They belong to the Sikandrabad gharana that boasts of musical giants such as Ustad Qudratulla Khan and Kifayatullah Khan. They are sons of Aziz-uz-Zama. The Nizami Brothers received training in music from late Ustad Wahid Hussain Khan, Ustad Mumtaz Hussain Khan, and Ustad Altaf Hussain Khan of the Khurja Gharana who was their maternal uncle.

The Nizami brothers have been honoured with several titles, which include Khusro Nizami from the Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia, and the International Ameer Khusro Awards. The Nizami brothers have toured all over the Gulf, Africa, England, Spain, Sri Lanka and other European countries.

The Nizami brothers are regular performers on All India Radio and Doordarshan. They have performed in many national festivals and international festivals including the Qutub festival, Jhansi festival, Ruhaniyat festival, besides performing at the Royal Albert Hall, London, and in the WOMAD festival.They have taught music at Faridabad College, Haryana for more than 12 years.They have many recordings to their credit.

Background : Over the past six decades, Sangeet Natak Akademi has built up an archive of audio and video tapes, photographs, slides and films on the performing arts.
