Event Description : Drama Society Aakriti presents "Daibaddho" Bengali play.
(Daibaddho - a saga of redeeming human values surpassing blood tie)
Love, affection, understanding are the traits of a happy family. But when there is trust deficit and the unsavoury past surfaces to haunt them, there is turmoil in the family - the emotional bond starts loosening. Can commitment to human values and a resolve to face adversity head-on, defying the norms of a conservative society, salvage the situation ?
Truck driver Gagan, wife Sita, daughter Jhinuk and assistant Jibon while away their time merrily. In a fit of rage, Sita tells Jhinuk about her real father. This turns their life topsy-turvy, bordering on disaster. Can they weather the storm ?
About the group : Drama Society AAKRITI has come a long way from a humble beginning in 2002, and is now one of the leading Bengali theatre groups in Delhi. Over the years it has performed theatre shows and participated in drama competitions/festivals in Delhi, NCR and other parts of the country with flying colour. In theatre circuit it is considered a group with a difference – different in its overall approach, opting for offbeat theme and novel treatment. It has already carved out a niche with bold choice of subject, quality acting, innovative stagecraft and unique style of presentation. The group has earned unalloyed appreciation and bagged awards galore for its productions in the past, which also got rave reviews from discerning critics and general audience alike.
With fifteen productions to date, the group is steadfastly devoted to good, meaningful theatre with social relevance. Over the years it has endeared themselves to theatre lovers and won the heart of connoisseurs of performing art by staging some outstanding plays. To sustain the good work of the past and to explore new horizons in the theatre world is what AAKRITI aims for.
