Entry : Workshop fee: INR 350 per participant (open only for Platinum and Corporate Premium members).Seats limited to 20 participants. Early applicants will receive priority.

Event Description : Painting workshops for 5 to 16 years old Kids which are as follows : 

For 5 – 8 years old
Discuss the Banyan tree, native to India, with the example of the Adyar Banyan tree with its sprawling branches covering over 40,000sqft and measuring 238ft from north to south and 250ft from east to west. The painting includes colouring of the trunk, branches and blank spaces. The objective is to get a basic understanding of the positive and the negative space.

For 9 – 12 years old
Landscape painting, also known as landscape art, is the depiction in art of landscapes – natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests, especially where the main subject is a wide view with its elements arranged into a clear composition. Understanding the concept of reflection, using crayon for the actual landscape and watercolour for the reflection. Children gain an understanding on how the image falls on water and how the texture of the image changes.

For 13 – 16 years old
To work on a concept based on stained or coloured glass, found originally in churches and mansions, to illustrate scenes and as decorative designs for windows.  The art of glass painting is becoming popular, especially with those who want to decorate their homes with an artistic touch. In fact, it is not very tough to do. You can create a beautiful painting in a day.

Trainer Profile : Uma Krishnaswamy, a freelance artist from Chennai, has illustrated for several leading publishing houses such as Penguin India, Puffin, Scholastic and Tulika and some of her works are in And Land Was Born, A Dollop of Ghee and A Pot of Wisdom, and Out of the Way! Out of the Way!She is a Charles Wallace scholar and has studied in the UK on World Art. At present Uma teaches Visual Studies at the Madras Craft Foundation, and History of Art is her all-time favourite subject.
