Akademi Awards 2011, Meghdoot Theatre, New Delhi

Born on 14 May 1941 in Calcutta, Shrimati Manjushree Chatterjee received her initial training in Kathak dance under Nalin Kumar Ganguly. She was later groomed in the art by Guru Shambhu performed at various festivals within the country, and has also conducted workshops and lecture-demonstrations in India and abroad. At her school of dance Kala Vihar in Kolkata, she continues to train young Kathak dancers.
For her service to dance, Shrimati Manjushree Chatterjee has been honoured with the Sahitya Kala Parishad Samman, the Rashtriya Ekta Samman bestowed by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, and also the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2011).

Background : Over the past six decades, Sangeet Natak Akademi has built up an archive of audio and video tapes, photographs, slides and films on the performing arts.
