Synopsis: The play depicts the yearning of a girl child to have a full life, as it has always been a dark side of Indian life to many a time kill the girl child in the womb. The story of the play revolves around this theme.
The story goes like this: A mother brought up her daughter and son with great difficulty and gets her son married to a well-educated girl who is a Professor. The young couple decide not to have a child for the first two years of marriage. The mother, clearly perturbed with their plan, desperately wants the couple to have a child soon. But they stick to their decision. 
Finally, when the daughter-in-law gets pregnant, the mother, on the insistence of her neighbour, wants to get a pre-natal test done to determine the gender of the baby in the womb. Now that the baby-to-be-born is a girl, she presses for abortion and the son gives in to the emotional blackmail by his mother. The sequence of events leads to remorse and retribution for all of them.

Background : Over the past six decades, Sangeet Natak Akademi has built up an archive of audio and video tapes, photographs, slides and films on the performing arts.
