Event Description : Manzil Mystics and The Roleplay Productions present "Inclusion Mela" in collaboration with CYC & Pravah, PACS, Manzil and American Center. The Delhi based choir group is organizing a musical performance to showcase their work in the field of education through music and theatre. These changeloomers are running their project in two govt. schools and five NGOs in Delhi. Inclusion Mela will have a drama named Paheliyan. The theatre performance is an original devised drama (40 Min.) from the experiences of the students who are part of it. As the name suggests Paheliyan is a bunch of riddles that 4 Genies ask to one and another and to the audience and unfold 4 different stories based on gender roles- responsibility, discrimination and gender stereotypes. In the process they are not only learning a performing art but are also getting sensitised about “Gender Discrimination” which controls our thoughts and sets our mid set in the society. The process questions our Identity, Stereotype, Bias and judgements as a male and a female.
The musical performance will be a 10 minutes long performance of original music which will question the social exclusion we all practice in our society.
About Manzil Mystic & The Roleplay Productions :
Roleplay Production : Anish Singh is Practitioner of Theatre-in-Education (TIE) methodology for past 10 years. He has worked with various institutions in Delhi and other parts of India including National School of Drama’s TIE Co. New Delhi. He has a very diverse experience of working with Children, Parents, Teachers and Youth. He has conducted theatre workshops for College students, School Teachers, Parents, NGO’s, presently he is working with Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon as a Theatre Educator and running a theatre group called The Roleplay Productions.
Manzil Mystic: Manzil is a place where boundaries blur, where conventionally defined spaces and roles are challenged and the unifying emotion is Love. Love that nurtures young minds to think independently and to reclaim the joy of learning resources. Where students are teachers and teachers are students. The group has been co- founded by Anurag Hoon, he is the main vocalist who writes and manages the whole ground for Manzil as well.
Manzil Mystics: Manzil Mystics is a Delhi based choir which shares passion for traditional Indian music, Indian Folk music, and a desire to celebrate their culture through songs. Manzil Mystics uses music as a creative tool to contribute wherever they feel a need.
Projects:
Learning Through Music: Learning Through Music is a project started by a Delhi based choir group; Manzil Mystics. In this project through music, Manzil Mystics is teaching children how to express their hopes, ideals, anger and frustrations and we design our activities in a way that we even teach them life skills such as decision-making, critical thinking, values clarification, leadership, team building etc.
Currently they are helping 2 Government schools and 4 NGOs in Delhi NCR and helping over 150 children across Delhi.
Myrole: Myrole is a Theatre and Arts based Project that explores gender and its complexities in the immediate surroundings of the teenage and youth. The attempt is to see and notice and further questions gender discrimination and gender imbalance in our society and express it creatively. The project is been supported by Commutiny Youth Collective, Pravah and PACS (Poorest Areas Civil Society, India).
The project is been currently running in 2 different organisations, 1. Manzil Welfare Society based in Khan Market, New Delhi. 2. Prithak Based in Kalkaji Slum Area, New Delhi. The regular no. of students who are part of the project is about 50.
About Changelooms With.in Programme: Changelooms With.in is an inside out leadership journey that encourages, recognizes, and supports young leaders (Changeloomers) to achieve their potential to lead social change initiatives. Through this program, the Changeloomers will get exciting opportunities for intensive learning, inspiration, mentorship, visibility, and fund-raising. It is run jointly by ComMutiny - The Youth Collective and Pravah and supported by Poorest Areas Civil Society Programme (PACS) and supports 100 youth leaders and their initiatives on social inclusion from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar.
