May 21, each year is observed as Anti-Terrorism Day in India which also happens to be the death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi. The objective behind observance of this day is to wean away the youth from terrorism and the cult of violence by highlighting the sufferings of common people and showing as to how it is prejudicial to the national interest.
Russia and India both have suffered from the futile violence of terrorism. They are expanding cooperation in a wide range of areas, both at the bilateral level and within international organizations such as UN, BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO). India is looking forward to join SCO as a full fledged member state from its current 'Observer" status. SCO is a good platform for the expansion of cooperation, including in the fight against the terrorist threat.
Through the Video Conference Experts from both the countries will share their perspectives on the challenges faced by them on this front and will discuss the ways to jointly combat terrorism and to minimise the threats arising out of this issue.
