‘Taj Mahal Ka Tender’, the play which set land mark in Delhi’s theatre space with its outstanding popularity, is going to pass the baton to its next generation very soon. Delhi’s theatre enthusiasts are going to witness ‘Tajmahal Ka Udghatan’, a political satire drama.
The play explores the underbelly of the current socio-political scenario, will be presented by NAVRAS, a dedicated theatre group in Delhi. The prequel revolves around Shahjahan’s struggle to build the Taj Mahal where as the sequel revolves around the next generation, Aurangzeb’s life and his struggle to build the
Relishing some nostalgic moments of the first show of ‘Taj Mahal Ka Tender’, the director of the play says: “When I first directed the play for NSD Repertory, I had no clue that the play would become such a hit. I was not encouraged to choose this play by some of my well-wishers and seniors, partly because of the form (Farce) and partly because they wanted me to pick an established play. However, I chose it and the public rewarded.” He also added, “People have also a very typical understanding about Farce which is a deterrent for inclusive theatre and for the growth of theatre as a whole.”
