Event Description : Banyan Tree Events Presents "Dakshinayan" annual Carnatic Music Festival
The festival is now in its twelfth year & has recently been presented in Mumbai over 2 days and is all set to be presented Delhi.
The intention of this festival is to celebrate and promote the ancient rich and beautiful tradition of Carnatic Music in North India. The festival is a brainchild of Managing Director, Banyan Tree Events, Mr. Mahesh Babu who like precious years, will make the festival on larger scale than ever. The Delhi edition will have the following artists who will be
1. Jayanthi Kumaresh (Veena) & R Kumaresh (Violin)
2. Sanjay Subrahmanyam (Vocal)
The festival has been nurtured this year by IL&FS Transportation & L&T Financial Services. Over the years, Dakshinayan has acquired a niche and spectacular audience in all the cities that it has been presented in. Some popular legends of Carnatic music such as; Dr. M Balamuralikrishna (Vocal), Dr K. J. Yesudas (Vocal), Late U. Shrinivas (Mandolin), Vikku Vinayakram (Ghatam), Bombay Jayshri (Vocal), Umayalapuram K. Sivaraman (Mridangam), Ganesh-Kumaresh (Violin), T.V. Sankaranarayanan (Vocal), Shobana (Bharatanatyam) & Padmabhushan Alarmel Valli (Bharatanatyam), T. M. Krishna (Vocal), Prasanna (Guitar), Sudha Raghunathan (Vocal) among others have been presented in the past.
Banyan Tree Events is a pioneer in the promotion of India's vast treasure of traditional and rare performing arts. For 18 years now, we have built numerous platforms to put a spotlight on the artists and art forms not just from India but also from other countries.
