Asia’s one of the biggest Indo-Pak Mushaira at New Delhi

The Annual Shankar Shad Mushaira is a legacy to commemorate the memory of Sir Shankar Lal & Mr. Murli Dhar of the DCM Conglomerate, who are known for their contribution to the social, educational and cultural life of New Delhi, as the patron of Urdu poetry. Mushaira will showcase the well-renowned Urdu poets who would be reciting their best poetry or Shayari. The famous Indo-Pak Shankar-Shad Mushaira is inseparable from the cultural life of the capital. The event is scheduled to take place under the umbrella of ‘Shankar-Shad Mushaira’, a literary event, held regularly by the Shankar Lall Murli Dhar Memorial Society. The famous Indo-Pak Shankar-Shad Mushaira will be held on March 21, 2015 at its traditional venue -- Modern School, Auditorium, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi.

This literary Event was founded in 1954 and has enjoyed the patronage of leading lights of the nation like former PMs Jawahar Lal Nehru and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Shankar-Shad Mushaira has been named after two renowned poets of Delhi--late Lala Murli Dhar 'Shad' and Sir Shankar Lal 'Shankar' had assumed the character of a literary institution of great importance in the world of Urdu poetry.

The 50th Shankar-Shad Mushaira—would present the amalgamation of well-renowned poets like Fahmida Riyaz, Anwer Shaoor, Amjad Islam Amjad from Pakistan, Aziz Nabeel from Doha Qatar and Waseem Barelvi, Munnawar Rana, Malikzada Manzoor Ahmed, Gulzar, Deepti Mishra, Bekal Utsahi, Anwar Jalalpuri, Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Ms. Ifrat  Zareen, Dr. Variza Singh, Dr. Kaleem Quaiser, Dr. Mohta Madhup among others from India.

The event is supported by DCM Shriram Industries Ltd, and would be endeavouring the higher levels of excellence in the world of Urdu poetry.
