Arindam Roy (an Indian) and Joyce Yarrow (an American) are authors who have collaborated over social media to produce a fiction novel that takes place both in the US and India. The authors will discuss the collaborative literary process and their book published by Vitasta Publishing.


Abstract :

Rivers Run Back reveals many aspects of Indian and North American Culture, as seen through the lens of the marriage of Shankar Chatterjee, a social anthropologist from Allahabad and Marilyn Benson, an artist from New York. They raise their daughters in Vancouver, where their fates intertwine with that of a master criminal who falls in love with one sister while seeking to destroy the other. Their family fragments. But the end, events conspire to lead them back to India, where they find healing and wholeness.

Speaker's Bio :

Arindam Roy's career in journalism spans 33 years. He was the Managing Editor of a Citizen Journalism portal, Merinews, and was in senior editorial positions in several publications. As correspondent and bureau chief, he has written extensively for the Times of India, Associated Press and multiple news outlets. He is the co-author of Kumbh: Confluence of Faith, (Times of India and DIPR, UP State Govt., 2013); Allahabad: Where the Rivers Meet (Marg, Mumbai) and Kumbh Mela: Pellgrinaggio Indianao (Jaco, Italy). He lives in Allahabad and is the Head: Business Strategy & Corporate Communications, at AH Wheeler & Co., Allahabad.

Joyce Yarrow, co-author of Rivers Run Back, is a Pushcart Prize Nominee. Her published novels include Ask the Dead and The Last Matryoshka. Her poems, stories, and essays have appeared in The Los Angeles Review of Books, Four Quarters Magazine, Vox Populi, Inkwell Journal, Whistling Shade, Descant, and Weber: The Contemporary West.
Joyce has lectured on The Place of Place in Mystery Writing at the Allahabad Museum, the University of Allahabad, and at writing conferences throughout the Pacific Northwest. Raised in the Southeast Bronx, Ms.Yarrow resides with her husband and son in Seattle.
