Event Description : "Gaysi Zine – Third Edition" Magazine Launch
A celebration of Queerness and the release of the Third Edition of Gaysi Zine - A Contemporary Print Publication and Queer Journal aimed at the everyday Queer reader by The Gaysi Family.
Gaysi Family, the online blog of Gaysi Media Pvt Ltd for the Desi LGBTQ community announces the release of the third edition of its print publication - The Gaysi Zine.
Being queer today is a politics and a sensibility. It is the philosophy of protest and dissent: an assertion of our sexual selves. It is not surprising that these selves, which are denied existence by many, are celebrated too despite the law and its norm. The celebrations have been out and loud, or quiet and secretive; but celebrations nonetheless.
The third edition of The Gaysi Zine celebrates queerness through a sense of discovery and familiarity. It represents how queer can be found in the most unexpected of places. That the rabbit hole of love, desire and self-exploration can be found anywhere, if you looked closely enough.
The evening of the release of the third edition of The Gaysi Zine brings together an evening of incredible stories on desire... and being different, and slam poetry by artists who find queer ways to express themselves. Slam combines movement, voice, drama and the written word for an unforgettable spoken word experience.
About Gaysi : Conceptualized in the year 2008 as GaysiFamily.com and incorporated in 2013, Gaysi Media Pvt Ltd aims to provide a voice and safe space for desis (i.e Indians, people of origin from or relate to the Indian subcontinent) who identify as LGBTQ or Queer. Currently, Gaysi Media Pvt Ltd has three main representations in the online and offline world:
GaysiFamily.com – An online blog and forum for individuals to share their writings and thoughts. Dirty Talk – An offline event for the spoken word bridging the gap between queer and non-queer spaces.
Gaysi Zine – A self-published journal of original and unpublished stories, illustrations, photographs, and personal stories.
