About Bharat Gupt
Bharat Gupt, a former Associate Professor in English at University of Delhi, is an Indian Classicist, theatre theorist, sitar and surbahar player, musicologist, cultural analyst, and newspaper columnist. He is a versatile and renowned speaker and a scholar of Hindi, English, Sanskrit and Greek. and has delivered lectures on a variety of topics over the past 3 decades in several countries, including Belgium, USA, Canada, Greece and India.
He is an authority in ancient Greek and Indian drama. His most recent activities include participation in a Hindu Jewish Dialogue with Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Jewish Grand Rabbi Sperber in New Delhi, India. As part of Year of Indaia in Canada 2011, he gave lectures in the Eminent Lecture Series facilitated by Indian High Commission. Currently he is invited for lectures on Culture to Students of Satyajit Ray Film Institute Kolkata.
He writes regularly for research journals, national and international newspapers on cultural and educational issues. He is M.A. in English from University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in English from MS University of Baroda, India. He has also worked in classical studies, theatre, music, culture and media studies and researched in Greece as Senior Fellow of the Onassis Foundation
