The Apeejay Arts complex opens its doors with “Carnival of Dissent”, a group show of young generation Indian and international artists and filmmakers who position themselves on the cusp of political activism and creative practice. On view across multiple spaces of the newly renovated Apeejay Arts complex, the exhibition includes film, video, photography, digital prints and performance. Reflecting the spirit of our turbulent times, themes running through the exhibition include grass roots social and political activism and coded language and gesture as tools for subversion of dominant hierarchies. We also witness performance and song as strategies of protest and identity-building and the desire to reveal injustice and open out space for personal freedoms.
