Event Description : Aalishan Pakistan presents "Pakistan Art Today" an exhibition showcasing new works by 11 Pakistani contemporary artists

The art exhibition is part of the Lifestyle exhibition "Aalishan Pakistan" being held in New Delhi from 11-14th September 2014, and organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan(TDAP), to promote Pakistani contemporary art across the border and give established and emerging artists a platform to showcase their art. "Pakistan Art Today" aims to show the evolution of art through the ages in to what can be called contemporary art. The exhibition is but a mere gesture to celebrate all forms of art and to initiate social and cultural dialogue from across the border using the 51 thought provoking pieces on display as a medium of communication.

Issues of gender, problem of identity, place of body, question of tradition and the role of politics in a post colonial society are a few themes evident in the works being presented. The show projects the diversity in terms of artists' ideas, approaches and positions.The exploration of themes within this broad spectrum illuminates the breadth, complexity and beauty of works produced in the region.

Participating Artists : Amin Gulgee, Ali Azmat, Tapu Javeri, Scheherzade Junejo,Summayya Jillani, Dua Abbas, Zehra Javeri, Ramzan Jafri, Sahyr Sayed, Syed Shahabdullah and Rabia Ajaz.
