For us at Yellowcat, Strange Loops is a larger program comprising talks, workshops, performances and screenings which explore the connections between Arts and Science. Right from the first day of school, a split is created between the two preventing us from understanding the artistic nature of science and the scientific in the arts.
The first event in this series of explorations is an interactive session with the artist Rohini Devasher. Born in 1978, Rohini lives and works in Noida. She received her MA in Printmaking from the Winchester School of Art in the UK and her BFA in Painting from the College of Art in New Delhi. Her current work involves research and fieldwork in astronomy, the most recent project an exploration of ‘strange’ terrains where myth and fiction blur the boundaries of what is real and imagined. She works in a variety of media including large site specific drawings, video, digital prints, and sound. Rohini will be talking about her work and people can talk to her about her work.
Since this is happening on a Sunday morning, chai and samosas will be available at the inimitable Cafe May Day. We can also recommend places for lunch in the area.
