Event Description : Delhi Karavan presents "Ek Shayar Ek Sufi" Heritage and Photowalk to neighbourhood of Purana Qila.

'The lanes of Delhi were not mere lanes, they were paintings from a painter’s album, every face seen there, was a picture in itself.'

The words of Mir Taqi Mir complement this city so beautifully.

Doston, while contemplating ideas for our next event and its venue, we just thought lets WALK, indeed it has been sometime we walked, and winters still look bit far and already our heels wish to move around this Dilwaalon Ki Dilli.

The walk shall cover Khairul Manazil, a mosque built by the powerful wet nurse/ foster mother of Emperor Akbar , Maham Anga. The massive structure sometimes gets disillusioned being in vicinity of the Old Fort. The Karavan then shall proceed to Bagh e Bedil, not many know about this hidden gem in Delhi. It's only when you walk towards the dateless structure, with twigs, leaves and empty potato wafer bags crunching under your feet, that you realize it has something to do with the most celebrated poet of Persia, Abdul Qadir Bedil. The green and white painted structure lies in the heart of central delhi, yet seems aloof, there are 30 other graves tucked away in various corners of this forest-y garden. As we move ahead, we shall stop at the Matka Peer, the heady smell of roses greet you at the entrance. People believe that all "mannat" done with pure heart is fulfilled and once it its fulfilled they offer a humble earthen pot 'a matka'. As we move we talk of three different periods, the Mughal era moving on to Persian poetry and finally the mysticism of Sufism.

Musafirs, lets don our walking shoes as we trail through these amazing spots, you shall witness the quiet prayers of dusk at Khairul Manazil, the calmness and smell of sodden earth at the un-pruned 'baagh' and the aroma of Babbu Bhai's biryani at the Matka Peer.
