Event Description : 'Berlin Shorts - The Queer Selection' film screening.

The films in this selection have been drawn from the 2013 Berlinale International Film Festival – from the Generation 14Plus competition, which celebrated its tenth edition in 2013, from the Berlinale Shorts selection and the Panorama selection that was one of the most eclectic sections that year. The films complement and interact with one another exhibiting an interplay that transcends the immediately apparent thematic dimension.

Generation

mates. Alex and Sofia go off together and they both want something to happen but it simply doesn't work out. While they don’t mind themselves, what will they tell the others?

O Pacote (The Package) | Brasilia 2012 | Duration: 18 min.
At a new school Leandro meets the lively Jefferson. They form an instant attachment and soon
realize that theirs is no ordinary friendship. Jefferson has to tell Leandro something and he is clearly struggling to get it out. If they want to be together there's one irreversible thing Leandro must deal with – that Jeff is HIV positive.

Panorama

Berlinale Shorts

Ja kada sam bila klinac, bila sam klinka (When I was a Boy, I Was a Girl) | Serbia 2013 | Duration: 30 min.
Goca is a transvestite in Belgrade, the capital city of a country where organising or participating in a gay pride parade is forbidden. Despite many problems and hardships Goca manages to retain her sunny, open-minded nature. On her thirty-ninth birthday she decides to celebrate her coming-out on stage in front of a live audience where she tells them the story of her life.

Beshivhey Hayom (In Praise of the Day) | Israel 2013 | Duration: 20 min.
Friday afternoon in a park in Jerusalem. Shabbat is about to begin and people are making their final preparations. The park, apart from the gay cruising scene, is almost empty. A young man, Oren, needs to make a phone call, but he doesn’t have a phone. He addresses a passing Armenian but isn’t sure if the man has even understood him. The Armenian is after something else entirely and Oren acquiesces, caught between curiosity and fear, desire and danger.

Ta av mig (Undress Me) | Sweden 2013 | Duration: 15 min.
Night. Two people – a man and a woman – meet. Above all else, their attraction for one another is palpable. Their attraction and their desire to kiss, and more. 'My place, or yours?' A journey begins through the city's empty streets. Plenty of viewing and gazing occurs during this night. Desire will always find a way.
