Event Description :
After a span of several years, Kavita Jaiswal returns with a solo show  'The Full Space'. extending her oeuvre to now include photographic and video works besides her canvases, kavita engages with her reflections on nature in a distilled and elegant manner. Working with a monochromatic palette, kavita eschews the decorative and representational, favoring instead a zen like sparseness.

The Artist brings together Paintings, Video, and a Photo-essay in her current show. This multimedia exhibition brings together the painted, the still, the moving and the inverted image. The painted image is on deep edge canvas, using acrylic and sands and rice paper. The image comes across with a freshness as light as air, free flowing and un- inhibited. The acrylic though frozen in time feels in constant motion keeping with the constant motion of the Earth. Seen exhibited along with these canvases are Videos which capture the flow along with sounds from the universe which create a perfect backdrop for the still image on canvas. Sound here becomes important, the viewer is asked to enter the space in silence, so as to enable him to hear the whispering sounds while viewing the paintings.

Just as the canvas explores the inner as well as the outer surface of matter, the Video explores the intimate spaces of the womb as well as man-made spaces in metal. Along with the sounds of the winds and waters are heard the metallic rhythmic heartbeat of the escalator in constant motion.
The still photographs bring together the’ Inverted image’, a series of images printed on canvas. Seen along with these is a video with dancing lines, captured while they were reflected on the depths of the waters which breathed high and low.
The exhibition offers a wide range of interesting moments due to the varied media, and it is interesting to see the Artist’s theme reflected successfully in all.
