Event Description : Entries are open for the third edition of the ‘Emerging Artist of the Year Award’, the biggest art award in India. The award is brought together by Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky in partnership with Bestcollegeart.com, India's most reputed online art gallery dedicated to supporting and nurturing young contemporary artists. The grand finale will take place on 4th April, 2014 at Nature Morte, The Oberoi, Gurgaon.
The winner will pose as the India representative artist for 2014 at the globally acclaimed Glenfiddich Artists in Residence (AiR). The programme has hosted over 90 artists from 18 countries to visit Dufftown, home to the Glenfiddich distillery, to be inspired to create varied artistic expressions ranging from the distillery, history, heritage, people, and craftsmanship of the surrounding area, which are then showcased in leading markets across the world. The residency has become widely acclaimed in the art world for providing artists with an original setting, space and community in which to work.
All artworks must be below INR 2,00,000 and should not be displayed on any other website as these works will be for sale. Artists will compete for a cash award of INR 10,00,000 including 3 months residency allowance at The Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. The jury will choose five finalists who will present a group show at Nature Morte Gallery, The Oberoi Gurgaon, in March 2014, where the winner will be announced.

This is the third edition of the award and since its inception in 2012, over 3,500 works by more than 1000 artists have been submitted to the Emerging Artist of the Year Award. Seeking the very best in national contemporary art, the award has established itself as one of the country’s leading art competitions. Last year’s winner, Yuvan Bothisathuvar, participated in Glenfiddich’s 12th annual Artists in Residence programme in 2013 at The Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, along with seven other artists from across the globe. The ‘Emerging Artist of the Year Award’ 2014 will close for entries at 12am midnight on Feb. 21, 2014.
