Event Description : The National Innovation Council is hosting the second episode of – ‘Join the Conversation’- with Mr Sam Pitroda, Adviser to the Prime Minister & Chairman, National Innovation Council and Ms Nandita Das, eminent Film Director and Actor.

‘Join the Conversation' is a platform for open conversations, discussions & debates between the youth of the country and policy makers, experts and other youth icons, on diverse subject areas. The objective is to fuel discussion on current issues and relevant topics such as education, art, culture, technology, and self-development amongst others.

The first episode of ‘Join the Conversation’ was attended by thousands of youth from across India and several other countries. The discussion can also be watched on TV on DD.

About the Organisation: National Innovation Council (NInC) was set up in 2010 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sam Pitroda, Adviser to the PM on PIII to discuss, analyse and help implement strategies for inclusive innovation in India and prepare a Roadmap for Innovation 2010-2020. It is the first step in creating a crosscutting system which will provide mutually reinforcing policies, recommendations and methodologies to implement and boost innovation performance in the country. The National Innovation Council has been pioneering initiatives to leverage the power of traditional and new media to spread the message of innovation amongst the youth of the country.

About the Speakers: 

Sam Pitroda is an internationally respected development thinker, policy maker, telecom inventor and entrepreneur who has spent over four decades in Information and Communications Technology and related human and national development initiatives. Known as the Father of the Telecom Revolution, Mr. Pitroda is currently Adviser to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations. He is also the Chairman of the National Innovation Council (NInC) which is working on several initiatives to boost innovation performance in the country.

Nandita Das is known to world audiences for her critically acclaimed performances as an actor in films such as 'Fire', 'Earth', 'Bawander', 'Before the Rains'. As a director, she is known for her directorial debut Firaaq (2008), which has won a number of national and international awards. Ms. Das is known never to shy away from controversial issues and unconventional roles and has chosen to be part of stories which she believes in, and, in her words, that need to be told.
