Event Description : Bird Walk at Okhla Barrage with wildlife photographer Nikhil Devasar.
Bird spotting as you walk through the capital's large bird sanctuary.
Join Nikhil Devasar, photographer and wild life tour operator, as he takes you on a bird walk at the Okhla Barrage.
Okhla Barrage is Delhi's most significant area of wetland. It is classed as an Important Bird Area (IBA) by Birdlife International as it regularly holds over 20,000 water birds in winter and has a bird list exceeding 330 species. Parts of the area are badly managed and suffer encroachment from farmers and fishermen. Nevertheless, Okhla Bird Park is the best area in Delhi for bird watching and almost a hundred species of birds can be observed on a winter morning. The other interesting elements that make up this large city center paradise is the extensive open water, the typha reed beds and the sandbanks.
Nikhil Devasar is a professional wild life photographer and a glimpse of his online photo gallery can be had at 500px.com/NikhilDevasar
