Amazing but true: On the way from the farm to the dining-room table in European households, more than half the food lands on the dump instead of reaching the consumer. Why are ever-greater quantities being destroyed? Director Valentin Thurn seeks explanations: from supermarket sales staff and managers, from bakers, wholesale market inspectors, welfare recipients, ministers, farmers and EU bureaucrats. In Germany, Austria, Japan, France, Cameron, Italy and the United States. He shows that people who have more appreciation for food have developed alternatives to stop the waste.
