Event Description : 'Wings of Hope' german documentary film screening.
In 1971, on Christmas Eve, an aeroplane carrying 92 passengers crashed into the Peruvian rainforest. Search and rescue teams were unable to find the wreckage and abandoned their search after ten days. Twelve days later the sole survivor of the crash emerged: Juliane Koepcke, then aged 17. 27 years later Werner Herzog accompanies her back to the scene of the accident in their search for physical and emotional traces of the catastrophe. Together they trace the journey of her extraordinary survival.
Most people only know Werner Herzog as the crazy director who worked with that insane actor Klaus Kinski. Almost unnoticed by much of the public, however, Herzog has spent the last 25 years of his life becoming a world-famous documentary.
