Event Description : Barefoot! presents 'The Veritree' English Play.
‘The Veritree OR Falsity of The Gods’ is the story of four Terrukuthu performers who miss their last bus home, and get lost in The Veritree: The Tree of Truth. At the borderline of myth and reality they find themselves immersed in stories and legends we have all grown up with. However, under the Veritree, Time and Space circle back on themselves and the stories are re-told in unexpected fashion.
This latest offering by K Madavane, founder director of Chingari theatre group, famous for its experimental productions that has produced actors such as Rajat Kapoor, Atul Kumar and Rahul Vohra, is an engaging work of mytho-fiction, blending elements of contemporary modern theatre with traditional folk.
The play is originally written in French, written by K Madavane, who hails from Pondicherry and has been directing for theatre for more than 35 years. The script has been a labour of love for Madavane, who began writing it almost twelve years ago, and has not had the support to get it produced till now. Madavane is not just well versed in a traditional theatre form of performance of Therra Koothu but also as a modern director who has directed plays like The Chairs, Tartuffe and The Mahabharata of Women.
Cast : Keshav Moodliar, Daman Sidhu, Mohit Mukherjee, Ashish Paliwal, Shivam Pradhan, Poonam Girdhani, Kriti Pant and Shena Gamat.

Barefoot! is a relatively young group, having produced works like the dance-theatre piecce 'The Pink Balloon' supported by IFA and concerts with acclaimed jazz band, HFT. The group enjoys sharing original theatre and music work from India.
