Event Description : In this era of evolution of traditional art forms into performances amalgamating issues of contemporary relevance with the bare basics of ancient origin, it is important to keep alive the basic nuance on which build todays representations.
thus, in its endeavour to maintain a parallel thread of the pure and serence Odissi dance, Patitapawan Kala Niketan brings to you 24th ANNUAL FUNCTION.

The programme will open with Ganesh vandana-
This is the Ganesh Vandana, a popular prayer recited in praise of Ganesha or Ganpati.Ganesha is the Lord of all beginnings.Vandana means invoking the blessings in the form of salutations to a particular deity, this is a popular form of worship in the Hindu religion.
The Ganesh Vandana is normally recited on special occasions, like the commencement of a new venture, the beginning of a Yagna or Havan or any other form of worship. This is primarily done to ensure success in that venture, as Ganesha is the Lord of all beginnings.
Following which will be presented the playful act of Bal Gopal- In this item the students describe the childish activities of Lord Krishna through the Abhinaya aspect of dance. in the absence of Mother Yasoda, young Krishna goes with his friends to steal the "Lavani"and is captured by the Gopies.
this item seeks to explain the spiritual presence of Lord Krishna through instances of Lavani Chori & Giri Govardhan.
Basant pallavi, a refreshing item depicting the pleasant and calm season of basant- the word "pallavi"is derived from "pallavi", meaning a tender leaf. "Pallavi",therefore, begins with tender leaflet-like dance postures and then develops slowly and steadily into a beautiful bunch. it is an extraordinary feeling to watch a just born tender leaf developing into a bunch of such leaves all before our eyes and just in a few minutes. the item aims at arousing such feeling in the audience.
Next will be abhinaya-Lord Krishna known for his eternal love. in this dance item Krishna expresses his feelings before his consort on seeing Radha.the dancer tries to depict various feelings of Krishna in "Abhinaya" through charming intricate body postures and expressions.
Followed by moksha-an odissi dance programme ends with an item called "moksh" or salvation.
The whole evening aims at enthralling audience with the magnificent yet so simple traditional Odissi dance from that originated some 5000 years back!
