About the ballet : Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's first poetical work 'Bhanusingher Padabali' was published when he was very young. He adopted the pseudonym "Bhanusingha" and wrote series of poems which echoed the Vaishnav Padabali. He was inspired by the poet Jaidev in composing the Maithilee verses and similar Brajabuli verses of other poets belonging to devotional genre of Vaishnava bhakti. These narrate the mythological stories about Radha and Krishna and their eternal love. Radha is on her secret love adventure, seeking her beloved Shyam. She loves taking risks in her daring pursuit. She is on her eternal tiptoe and cannot pause. Now happy in union, now sad in separation, now in joy and now in anxiety. She only follows the ravishing call of the Flute, the call of love from afar.
