Opening : Tuesday, 14 May, 5 to 8 pm
A deliberate attempt to come together by these artists as a group shows that four cardinal points have their own perspective. Each one has been shaped and moulded within their environment and independent style born out of a creative mind.
Sarla Chandra's works embrace various facets of life, nature and the metaphysical. They are a powerful reminder of the fact that there is no difference between the inner and outer worlds . Both are repositories of energy fuelling natural growth and human creativity. Her book “Journey Of Four Decades" was launched recently.
Saba Hasan creates abstract worlds with automatism, textures and often chooses to use Urdu text. In her sound installations, Saba’s poetry becomes that timeless voice which brings the revolutionary or humanist message at dawn. Her recent conceptual work consists of book installations based on philosophical concepts about the nature of truth with contemporary social
relevance.
Durga Kainthola is reflecting the process of change, documenting history and contemporary popular imagery. She does installations to speak against the gender biased society, a growing menace and with an attitude of "dressed to kill" and "I am What I am". Her videos and new performance piece speak of these different moods, making Durga’s repertoire widen into all the new media with her concept.
Bharti Singh’s love for nature metamorphosed and shaped into a personal thought process evolved from various sources and ever-growing question, existence of life with a temperament of subconscious and conscious evolution of inner voice.

Each one different from the other and yet joining together like fundamental elements sharing their thought process, coming together for creative expression and to redress the balance of rationalism lost in society

The continuation of guru-sishya parampara...
Abhilasha Karnani's lust for a creative sojourn began with her search for a teacher in 2002.
In 2002,early winter ,Abhilasha entered the studio of artist Durga Kainthola along with her three little kids and said 'This is exactly what I am looking for. Can you teach me?".
Her immense interest and motivation did not allow Ms.Durga to have a second thought. Acceding to her request she said "I will not teach you, but you can do your painting in my studio and if need be, I will guide you.".
Handing her a duplicate key to her  studio space, she let Ahilasha be herself as colors fascinated her, impastoed hues, tones, ornamentation, nature as well as geometry were her source of inspiration, she thus re-created a space for herself  with her creative imagery .
This compilation of the exhibited paintings/drawings is the gradual outcome of her creative inborn urge which surfaced  in a natural progression as per her state of mind and various influences. This is her first solo exhibition - It is  the outcome of many years of hard work and understanding the artist's oeuvre, and strong enough to face criticism and appreciation.

Gallery No. 6 : "Enchanting Encoustics" - Revival of old medium (an ancient art technique using wax) an exhibition by B. Jaya Lakshmi.
