Event Description : ‘Who Are You 2’ an exhibition by the Arts University Bournemouth.
Who Are You 2 is a competition aiming to discover new creative talent and is giving young creatives across India an exciting opportunity – the chance to have their work supersized on 75 massive billboards in cities across the UK. The exhibition ‘Who Are You 2’ is the result of this competition from the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), a leading specialist arts, design, media and performance university based in Bournemouth on the south coast of England. Selected entries from the competition will be on display, and all competition entries are being showcased in an online gallery.
This international competition asks creative 14-19 year olds to create a piece of artwork that best describes who they are in the world today, with 20 winning entries having their work supersized onto giant billboards located across the UK, with the support of JCDecaux, one of the largest contractors of outdoor media in Europe. In a special international partnership, the Arts University Bournemouth is delighted to offer the winning competition entrant from India a scholarship of £1000 towards tuition fees for a certificated course at the AUB (BA (Hons) or Preparation for Higher Education course). All competition entrants from India will receive a certificate of participation from the Arts University Bournemouth.
This is the second year that the Arts University Bournemouth have run this competition, with the aim of giving young creatives the very biggest platform that they can for their future career – and supersizing their artwork on billboards across the UK will ensure that the young winners’ work will be seen by thousands of people and will become a unique addition to their portfolio when entering higher education or going into employment. One of the winners from 2012, Antonio Perez, who was originally from the Philippines but studying at the International School of Amsterdam, commented “Seeing my artwork on billboards was breathtaking and it made me feel alive... It helped me find my passion in art, which gave me a clear path to what I want to do in the future.”
As a specialist university, the Arts University Bournemouth has an excellent track record of progressing students to the creative industries. It is currently in the top 5 of all UK universities for graduate employment and was voted the Number One Creative University in the UK on the ‘Which? University’ comparison website in 2012.
