Sursagar Society of Delhi Gharana
Sursagar Society was founded in 1940 by the late Ustad Chand Khan Sahab (Sangeet Martand) in the memory of his father Shams-e-Mousiqui, Ustad Mamman Khan. The society aims to conserve and promote an awareness of both the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry through focus on the classical arts, with their attendant legends, rituals, mythology and philosophy and the deeper and subtler values of these arts. This is of utmost importance, because what we are trying to do here is noble. We’re trying to save an art, the art of music, which is presicely, an implication of the collective conscience of the Indian civilization.
Sursagar Society of Delhi Gharana’s successful holding of the music festivals for more than 60
years has enhanced its prestige in the eyes of the public. The society has been organizing concerts in Delhi, Kolkata and Ranchi, and honoring outstanding artists with the objective of developing more interest in Indian Classical Music. The society also runs the Amir Khusro Institute of Music where free training is being provided to all those interested in any art form of Indian Classical Music.

Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan
Indian Classical Vocal Maestro/Khalifa of Dilli Gharana
Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan has been serving the Indian Classical Music for more than 50 years. He started performing at a tender age. He was 7 yrs old when he gave his first public performance.
Young Iqbal was adopted and groomed by his maternal grandfather Sangeet Martand Ustad
Chand Khan Sahib and his paternal grandfather Ustad Jahan Khan and grand uncle Ustad Usman Khan. With this grounding he also had the privilege of learning from his uncles Ustad Hilal Ahmed Khan, Ustad Naseer Ahmed Khan, Ustad Zafar Ahmed Khan & his father Ustad Zahoor Ahmed Khan. He has since then received much acclaim worldwide and been awarded numerous awards internationally and eventually emerged as an active promoter of Hazrat Amir Khusro’s musical work and a true custodian (Khalifa) of Dilli Gharana. The Dilli Gharana roots back to the times of Hazrat Amir Khusrau Dehalvi in the 13th century. In Dec 1962, Khan Sahab gave his first public performance at the age of 7 years.
This is a matter of gigantic celebration for Dilli Gharana and Indian Classical Music fraternity
as a whole as the Khalifa of one of the oldest Gharana has been performing for more than 5
decades now. Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan’s contribution to Indian Classical Music is enormous and unparalleled.
