Event Description : Shoelace Productions presents `Bar Boys` stand-up comedy by Abijit Ganguly, Amit Tandon and Maheep Singh.
Disowned by their own government and extremely upset at not having raised their twitter follower count, these boys were performing comedy in bars and pubs for short-lived fame. The bar-owners found them apt replacement for bar-girls, whose noble act for some weird reasons had been made illegal some years back (such killjoy). Having approached Satyamev Jayte for taking up their cause, and rudely refused, they realized they would have to stand up for themselves for their cause, the cause of Bar Boys.
Come and see what happens when three hassled stand-up comics stand up for a noble cause - their very own selfish interest. Watch them do what they do best, and are moderately successful at it as well. Talking about cuckoo clocks, Delhi weddings, cultural observations, beggar behaviour, corporate humour and various other politically incorrect issues that one shouldn't really be talking out loud. Find out why these three have been disallowed from performing in bars anymore (it's a joke, relax).
More than that, come, let's give these stand-up comics some respect that they really don't deserve.
About the performers:
- Abijit Ganguly
Abijit Ganguly is widely known as the most handsome Bong after Bappi Lahiri. Most of his life he was laughed at, so he figured might as well as make a career out of it. Has a newfound interest in audience interaction in which he mostly makes a complete fool of himself. Trying to turn to political humor, but realized he was just not that intelligent or angry with life. Loves cheap applause and some good ol' sex jokes.
- Amit Tandon
He is known as 'The married guy' in Delhi's stand up comedy circuit. After 2 kids and one marriage, he realized it couldn't get any worse and took to comedy. He dedicates all his jokes to his wife. A master at sharing amusing observational and hugely relatable anecdotes, he jokes about everything personally painful to him - from marriage to politics to road traffic and even women in general.
- Maheep Singh
He is a professional demotivational speaker providing demotivation to overly motivated and driven workforce in the corporate world, his very presence demotivates you. And all of the things he says in his stand-up are facts. He believes that If it is true it's funny. If people believe it to be true it's still funny. There have been times when his jokes have been followed by pin drop silence. But he just takes it as if his shrink is on leave.
