Event Description : Information Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India in collaboration with Russian News Agency RIA Novosti cordially invites you to a video conference between New Delhi and Moscow on the following subject "Women in Contemporary Society"
Much progress has been made to protect and promote women’s rights in recent times. However, nowhere in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men. On average, women receive less pay than men earn for the same work. Women also continue to be victims of violence, rape and domestic violence listed as significant causes of disability and death among women worldwide.
Experts from Russian & India will dwell upon the issues relevant to women empowerment, equality and domestic violence against women and throw light on the state of affairs of women in their respective countries.

Speakers from India:
Ms Madhu Purnima Kishwar, Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies & President of Manushi Sangathan, an NGO active in the field of women empowerment
Ms Meenu Vadera, Director, Sakha Consulting Wings Pvt Ltd, A unique social enterprise, launched to provide safe transport solutions for women, by women in urban India.
