The Collegiate Theatre Festival for New German Writing is an initiative to promote contemporary German plays and campus theatre in the city. The festival was put together for the Indo German Urban Mela where plays were presented by the dramatics societies of four colleges of Delhi University, at the Culture Pavilion.
This festival aims to, not only serve as a platform for contemporary German writing, but also support the long-standing tradition of campus theatre. Teams have been encouraged to adapt German scripts to an Indian setting, making them more accessible to a local audience. The plays, have been mentored by Neel Chaudhuri, a Delhi based theatre director and playwright who guided the teams through the play making process. This will enable students to explore aspects of scripting, staging and design in consultation with a professional from the theatre fraternity.
