Event Description : Katyayani and IMP Entertainment presents 'The One Percent Agency' award winning author, Tabish Khair's Laugh-a-minute satire. 
The One Percent Agency is a cutting satire on how the West consumes ‘exotic’ Indian traditions. It is also a comedy about relations between Indians and our incredible ability to cope.
The “One Percent”, the name for a wedding agency, is actually a statistic-- the divorce rate in India, which the protagonists claim is incredibly low.. The agency caters to Western tourists who want to attend the Great Indian Wedding, the demand for which has now risen since the success of films like Monsoon Wedding.
As the agency struggles to provide its Western patrons with exactly the spectacle that they have ordered, the complex realities of India intervene and create a love story of another sort altogether. So when the agency is faced with increasingly exotic demands, it goes about it with all the business acumen and deviousness it can bring into it.

The One Percent Agency  is the first play by Tabish Khair, winner of the All India Poetry Prize, whose critically acclaimed fiction has been shortlisted for the Encore Award (UK), the Vodafone Crossword Prize, the Hindu Best Fiction Prize, the DSC Prize for South Asia (India), the Man Asian Literary Prize (Hong Kong) etc, and translated into several languages.

A critically acclaimed dramatised reading was organized by Yatrik, in March this year at the Indian Habitat Centre.
