Event Description : The Delhi Ibsen Festival 2012.
The seven productions being featured at the Delhi Ibsen Festival are experiments into new directions. Five productions are specially created for the festival. All the productions are extremely innovative very special, in the wide range of Ibsen's plays that are being featured, as well as the quality of the productions.
The festival features younger directors like Heisnam Tomba from Manipur and Sankar Venkateswaran from Trichur, Kerala and Ovlyakuli form Tashkent, from whom we will witness a very revolutionary approach to Ibsen; from Staniewski (Poland) working with Kolkata's Padatik Company, which will open the festival, comes a very metaphoric and evocative production; Shubham Bhatia of Ramjas College, creates an excellent sociological adaptation of Ibsen into a rural scenario; The Lady from the Sea from Norway (Riksteatret: National Travelling Theatre of Norway) and A Doll's House from Pakistan (Sheema Kermani) represent superb acting and powerful histrionics.
The Delhi Ibsen Festival 2012 Seminar, projects an unusual theme...."Who is the Enemy?"
The idea of 'enemy' is open to multiple levels of interpretation encompassing aesthetics, history, socio-political issues and economic scenarios of discourse. Many conventional and established ideologies are reviewed as open-ended questions.
