Event Details : 'Our Lives...To Live. NO! To gender violence' - Film Festival (No More Violence Against Women) - Films of Courage, Protest, Hope.

The film festival is an initiative of SANGAT South Asia as part of their regional coordination of the
international One Billion Rising campaign. The festival is being put up by IAWRT (The International Association of Women in Radio and Television) in collaboration with many NGOs, universities, colleges and cultural institutions all over the country.
Films mainly from India will be screened, with a good representation of the larger South Asian region, depending of course on availability and quality of films.
The film programming and planned discussions will bring together larger common themes of violence towards women everywhere as well as look specifically at more immediate cultural contexts - to understand women not always as a universal category but also as individuals and communities seen through the lens of class, caste, age, ability, geographical location, sexuality and other such factors that often become sites of violence.
