Event Detials : Ikebana International presents The 12th Asian Regional Conference.
There will be 225 delegates from all around the world. Besides Delhi, Mumbai, Banglore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Gurgaon, there will be delegates from Pakistan, SriLanka, Singapore, Manila, Hongkong, Taipei, and Japan.
This coming together of different countries and cultures prove the Ikebana message of “Friendship through Flowers”- all around the world.
Following are the High Lights of the 12th Asian Regional Conference.
The main High Light of the conference is the “EXHIBITION” of Ikebana arrangements
There would be about 150 arrangements on display. Guest Master and the delegates from different countries would be participating in the exhibition. This is where delegates have an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent.
The Exhibition will be held at Crystal Ballroom” The LaLiT”.
There will be a demonstration will be by Mrs VeenaDass, DirectorSogetsu School Delhi. She is highly qualified and holds highest degree –RIJJI of Sogetsu School She was recently conferred – “KyokuJitsuSokoSho “(The order of Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays) by His Majesty Akihito Emperor of Japan. She has many public demonstrations to her credit
Mrs. SalmaAnsari wife of the Hon’ble Vice President of India will be the Chief guest
The demonstration will be held at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg ,on Friday23rd November 2012. At 3.30P.M
The keynote guest demonstrator will be Mr.Rishi Ootsuka Head Master of “KORYU KATABAMIKAI SCHOOL” This school has Ikebana traditions dating back to 2000years.Mr. Otsuka has been practicing Ikebana from the age of thirteen. His arrangements are both traditional and freestyle, introducing visual and spiritual pleasures of daily life.
Mrs. Gursharan Kaur wife of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Of India will be the chief guest
His demonstration will be held at the Auditorium of Sri SathyaSai International Centre,Lodhi Road On Saturday 24th November 2012 at 10.30 A.M .
Master will also be holding workshops for the delegates. This will be an unparalleled opportunity for delegates to gain first hand knowledge of this renowned high standard of Ikebana.
The workshop would be held at The LaLiT on Sunday 25th November 2012 at 2.30 P.M
DELHI IKEBANA INTERNTIONAL
Delhi Ikebana International was formed in 1965 and is chartered Chapter of Ikebana International.
Ikebana International is a worldwide organization founded in Tokyo in1956. Its members are dedicated to promotion of mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and other countries through Ikebana (The art of Japanese flower arrangements) and other related arts of Japan. Ikebana International is a non-profit cultural organization and today boasts of over 10,000 members in more than fifty countries.
Enthusiastic volunteers of many different nationalities and Ikebana Schools administer Ikebana International.
We organize monthly programes of demonstrations and workshops. We also organize an annual exhibition, which has become a major event on Delhi’s cultural calender.Over the years personalities like Mrs. VijaylakshamiPandit,MrsSarojiniNaidu,DrZakirHussainDr.ShankarDayal Sharma and more recentlyMrsGursharanKaur,MrsSalmaHamidAnsari,MrsShielaDikshit,MrsAmbikaSoni,Mrs. RenukaChoudhry to name a few have inaugurated the annual exhibition.
We have participated in various National and International Conferences.
Mrs. Gandhi very kindly agreed to become the patron of the association and showed keen interest in its activities. She would always visit the annual exhibition until her very busy schedule took its toll. It was on her behest that the association was invited to arrange flowers at the venue of various national and International events-NAM, CHOGUM,SAARC.
Over the years members of Ikebana Chapter of Delhi have arranged flowers at RashtrapatiBhawan,TeenMurtiHouse and for golden jubilee celebration of The Supreme Court of India.
We have also been organizing demonstration by Masters of Ikenobo,O’Hara,Sogetsu,SagaGoryu and Chiko School.
We have always had support of Japanese Embassy in our endeavors.
Asian Regional Conferences are held every two years. It has been hosted by Singapore,Manila,Hongkong,Taipei,Kaulalumpur,Hyderabad
Fifth Asian Regional Conference was hosted by Delhi in 1996.
We have now again the proud privilege of hosting the Twelfth Asian Regional Conferenceafter fifteen years.
