About the Arts & Performing Arts Day
Our children have put together a collage of performances across the three classical performing Arts Kathak, Tabla and Music. The theme of the evening is about ‘Celebrating 7 Glorious years of Classical Performing Arts at Vidya & Child’. A Total of 110 children are going to perform on stage.
1. Music Performance
a. Pt. Amarnath’s bandish based on Raag Durga
b. Integration of Do Re Me with Sa Re Ga Ma
c. Folks songs from 5 different states of India – Music unites everything, Music
Transcends all borders
d. Sufi Song – Ali More Angana – All is Truth and Truth is All
2. Tabla Performance
a. Three different levels of Tabla performances by three different groups from
simple to advanced levels
b. Performances are an output of the Guru-Shishya Parampara based learning
methodology
3. Kathak Performance
a. Saraswati Vandana
b. Kathak Technical Performance – Tihaai, Tukre etc.
c. Composition
Performance of Vidya & Child Song “Freedom Song”

Participants: 110 children (age group – 8 to 18)

About the organization
Vidya & Child works with the mission to help bridge the gap for those children who need
education and have no access to the facilities for learning existing in our society. It started in July 1998 to work towards providing a learning environment that can lead to a strong
educational foundation as well as help a child in identifying the uniqueness within. Vidya &
Child started with 2 children and now works with over 1200 children across 4 locations through its non formal and after school support centers. These are children who belong to socio-economically marginalised sections of society, majority of them have parents who are illiterate/semi-literate and work as domestic servants, industrial workers, rickshaw-pullers, street vendors, plumbers and carpenters.
