Event Details : Art Heritage is proud to host two exhibitions entitled Kasheer/Kashmir .These are devoted to two pre-eminent artists of the valley, D. N. Walli and Kishori Kaul.  In work that displays a strong desire to evade capture of their beloved land from stereotypical representations of it made first by British colonial artists and photographers and later by the popular Hindi cinema, Walli and Kishori comprise an earlier generation of  ‘insiders’ who recognize that the strength of Kasheer lies in the sheer beauty, bounty and plenitude of its nurturing landscape. Reclaiming it as their own in canvas after canvas, their work can justifiably be regarded as the ‘Other Pastoral’.
