Event Details : On behalf of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), we hereby extend you an invitation to participate in a two-day annual “Sri Sri Krishna Janmastami Mahotsava 2012” on August 10th and 11th with a colourful programme at its Sri Sri Radha Radhikaraman– Krishna Balarama Temple (ISKCON Punjabi Bagh).
In connection with the celebration of Sri Krishna Janmastami Mahotsava, a series of festivities are being planned. Special attractions: Whole day Drashan of Lord, Spritual rock show/ DJ, Talent Hunt for Krishna, Drama on "Krishna Leela" by children, "Bhisadeva" play with sound and light effects, Krishna Tatoos/ ringtones, Vrindavana Show, to name a few.

Krishna Janmashtami is the grandest of all Vaishnava festivals. On August 10, the celebration begins at 4.30 a.m with mangal-arati.  Followed by Krishna Bhajan, Akhanda Kirtan, Mahamantra Chanting (108 steps), Abhishek (By Donors), Maha Abhishek and mid-night Aarti, there is free prasadam distribution to all the devotees/ visitors the whole day. All day, there are readings from the Krishna Book and bhajans in the temple room. In the kitchen, devotees prepare a big feast of at least 108 varieties of preparations to be offered to Krishna at midnight.

A 50,000 square foot main tent is being erected for the main evening programme of kirtan, bhajan, drama, dance, lecture and abhishek at Nattha Singh Vatika Grounds (behind Punjabi Bagh Club). For the inquisitive young visitors, we offer a special tent hosted by the ISKCON Youth Forum, ISKCON Girls Forum, Bhakta Prahlad school and alike. They offer transcendental fun like you’ve never tasted before: chanting Hare Krishna to modern beats, entertaining skits, tattoes, Krishna ring-tones, Eye-opening books and much more.

The grand abhishek (bathing the Deity with auspicious substances) which is at 10.30 p.m and the midnight arati are highlights of the evening Temple programme. Come and experience the transcendental pleasures in chanting, feasting, hearing Krishna katha and taking part in numerous cultural events during the Janmastami festivities. You are specially invited to Nandotsava and Vyasa Puja on the following day (11th Aug’12).

6:00 pm : Spiritual Rock Concert by 'GAURANGA' on Janmashtami
Ever wondered about how Guitars and Drum would sound in a religious festival? Ever seen the rockers clad in Dhoti-kurta with Tilaka, turbans on head and cadar on the body? See to yourself this Janmashtmi, the advent day of Lord Krishna on earth, at NATTHA SINGH VATIKA Grounds (Behind Punjabi Bagh Club) on 10th Aug.'12 sharp at 6pm. (Yes! Sharp 6:00pm.. Not even a minute late!!!) Sing the glories of Krishna and His divine associates in a New Age music form.
The band- "GAURANGA", an offshoot of ISKCON Punjabi Bagh- has every tune in their notes to let our heart sing and dance to our highest capacity and ecstacy. Lets celebrate this wonderful festival in a very fun-filled way. After all it is going to be only 2 hours show. So, don't let yourself regret later for not inviting friends and others to this thrilling experience. Come in numbers. 

8:30 pm - 9:30 pm : Enjoy a wonderful drama on "Bhishmadeva, the Grandsire" (of Mahabharata) this Janmashtami (10th Aug'12) presented by "Goloka Players", famous for its wonderful rendition of music, expressions and talents. An offshoot of ISKCON Punjabi Bagh, 'Goloka Players' have played at various levels and in various festivities since its inception few years ago. With a wonderful sound and lights effects on a huge stage, truly the actors would steal our whole attention. Let us be a part of this night's audience-of-the-play which unfold the long dramatic history of Mahabharata in a mystical way. 

About Bhishma: He was one of the most prominent characters of the great Indian epic, the Mahabharata and was the grand uncle of both the Pandavas and the Kauravas. An unparalleled archer, he once vanquished his Guru Parshuram (unbeatable) and this battle continued for 23 Days. Also known as 'Bhishma Pitamaha' (Pitamaha meaning the grandfather or grandsire) among the Pandavas and the Kauravas, he was a well known for his knowledge on Politics and fighting skills.
