Stirring a concern for mother earth with strains of music.
It is rare to find young professionals devoting their efforts to create awareness about social issues and get the youth involved.
And if the method one uses is not only something one loves but is one that also enthralls others even as it sends out positive vibrations, then the objective is worth the effort.
Members of Delhi-based band Eka – who have performed at over 2100 concerts in 16 countries and recorded over 110 songs in various capacities – are doing their bit for the one essential part of everyone’s lives that no one can do without: Mother Earth.
Benjamine ‘Benny’ Pinto on Keyboards (Ex-Euphoria), Hitesh ‘Rikki’ Madan on guitars and vocals (Ex-Euphoria) and Lokesh Madan on vocals and bass very recently released 5 tracks and a music video as a tribute to mother Earth.
And now, the band has taken on the onus to be the crusaders to spread awareness and initiate action amongst the youth on environmental issues that are of concern worldwide, coinciding with World Environment Day, 5 June.
To mark this event, there will be a screening on 3 June at the ICCR Auditorium, Azad Bhavan, of Eka’s video “She’s beautiful (There is only one Earth) followed by a live performance by Eka.
Joining Eka on stage will be young and aspiring musicians from different schools and colleges, all students of Aria Music & Theatre Conservatory, to perform these Earth Care tracks with the purpose of spreading awareness about the cause of The World Environment Day.
The band – which won the Best Group award at ArtistAloud Awards 2011 – has recorded some very heart-rending songs to eulogize mother earth.
She's beautiful (There is only one Earth) is a simple song that personifies the incredible beauty of mother Earth. The underlying message in the video of the song is that all of us can do small things to preserve the gifts of Mother Nature.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi5jUDjirB0

But even as Eka continues its efforts to generate awareness about social issues, it created a realization that a few meaningful words rendered in verse with music can leave a lasting impact on today’s generation and help bring about a change for the better.
And realizing this, the trendy online shoe store beStylish.com has roped in popular music band ‘EKA’ as brand ambassadors to attract youngsters to the first phase of its ‘Friends of beStylish’ program that encourages partners across various walks of life to connect with the online brand.

Eka recently performed at Thimpu, Bhutan, at Mountain Echoes Literary Festival. Eka enthralled the Thimpu audience by blending its originals with popular Bollywood, Classic Rock, Sufi and Punjabi music. The festival featured some hugely inspiring names (including Gulzar, Sharmila Tagore, Vikram Seth, etc.) from the world of Literature, theatre, film, music, art and culture from Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
