Event Details : Performance Art - Passage to India over Land: Tino Sehgal's "This Situtation" on a Goethe Tour.
Tino Sehgal pushes the boundaries of art with his “constructed situations”. One of these situations, or more precisely, “This Situation”, is touring Goethe-Instituts in Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Georgia and India from October 2011 onwards. The journey will be almost entirely over land and it will be the first time that one of Tino Sehgal’s works will be displayed in India, the country of his father. The tour will culminate in a solo exhibition at the Tate Modern in London in July 2012 sponsored by the Goethe Institut. “This Situation” (2007) confronts the visitor with a free-ranging discussion on philosophical issues. Tino Sehgal views this work as a playful salon that not only draws upon 450 years of intellectual history but also uses body poses to allude to famous works of art.
