Event Details : DIAF presents International Tribute To Tagore- Remembering Indira Gandhi
On the occasion of Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th birth centenary year, the Delhi International Arts
Festival (DIAF) proposes to begin the festival with a Preview to this year’s 15-day annual gala of the Arts with a befitting international tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
This event will be unique- as it would for the first time that many cultures and nations are coming together on one platform, all of them with some relevance to Gurudev. Through these performances DIAF wants to showcase Rabindranath Tagore’s global outreach and influence works that have some relevance to Gurudev, thereby showcasing his global outreach and influence.
(1) Shantiniketan

Starting with 3 minutes of Sanskrit song followed by 25 minutes of Dance

An offering of dance interpreted as Love and Peace. Rabindranath’s poetry will be a backdrop, a theme to the past, present and future of the world that Gandhiji and Tagore envisaged, all through the eyes of the Indian Ocean that unites us.
A poet will do the translation of the poems before they are showcased in dance. The classical music compositions will be performed in a contemporary style to enhance emotions. The poet’s readings and music will be simultaneous.

La Shica (Dancer & Vocalist)
La Shica represents,a really new and fresh fusion that has already gained the respect of specialists and audiences. The young group has managed to impress with their Flamenco Fusion. Fusionating with an astonishing harmony, blending several sounds, grooves and riffs from different music styles, such as Flamenco, Hip Hop, Reggae and Bossa Nova.
The body and soul of La Shica (in Spanish: the Girl) is the charismatic lead singer Elsa. Elsa grew up in Ceuta (Spain) moving to Madrid as a teenager with a clear purpose: to become an artist. And she did….. She studied at the prestigious flamenco dance school Amor de Dios where she worked with some of the best Flamenco professionals. After her studies she attracted attention and started performing soon as a solo dancer in several tablos, flamencos and with prestigious dancing companies
(4) Mexico- Music Concert
Pate de Fua/Argentinean & Mexican Musicians
A very interesting contribution from Mexico at DIAF 2011 is Pate de Fua.
Paté de Fuá was formed in Mexico in the year 2005. It is constituted by Argentinean and Mexican
musicians who crossover genres , such as dixieland, traditional jazz, tango, pasodoble, and musette, among others. Paté de Fuá has appeared on over 200 stages both in Mexico and abroad. The musicians include, Yayo González (Guitar, Voice and composition), Guillermo Perata (Trumpet ,Banjo)
Cavaquinho Bombardino (composition and musical arrangements). Jorge Luri Molina (Contrabass), Alexis Ruiz (vibraphone), Víctor Madariaga, (Accordion and Bandonian), and Rodrigo Barbosa (Drums).
(5) Songs from Hungary
Robert Herzczku-Vocals, Robert Sinha-Guitar
Ágnes Herczku is the best known folk-ethno singerin Hungary. She is a recipient of several awards and has been the principalsoloist of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble for nine years.
Robert Sinha was born in Budapest in1973. Born to an Indian father and Hungarian mother, he graduated from the Dutch Royal Conservatory as a classical guitar player in May 2006. Johar
