Event Details : Information Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India in collaboration with Russian State News Agency RIA Novosti cordially invites you to a video conference between New Delhi and Moscow on "Environmental boundary: water problem in the XXI Century".
With each passing year the problem of accessing the fresh water is worsening.  In some countries there is shortage of fresh water due to natural / climatic conditions whereas in few others there is a high degree of pollution of rivers and lakes. Another problem which arises out of Geo-political reasons is the confusion and conflicts of trans-boundary water transfer and balanced use of water resources with neighboring countries. What are the causes and consequences of the water problem in Russia and what problems India face in this context? How to solve the problem of trans-boundary movement in Russia and India? Many rivers in Russia have their origin in other countries (the Irtysh, the Selenga, the Songhua River, etc.). Same is the situation with Indian rivers. What water quality standards are required today? During the proposed video conference experts from both the countries will dwell upon these and other related issues and will suggest feasible solution.
