‘Legends of India’ was conceptualized in 1999 to uphold rich cultural heritage of India, nurture Indian art forms and create awareness among the next generation since there was a need to salvage the traditional art forms from oblivion.
At Legends of India we believed and set out to bring art forms out from their esoteric niches into the popular domain. In an endeavor to rejuvenate India's enriched cultural diversity, nurture and foster these arts creating cultural awareness, Legends of India aspires to build a culturally vibrant society. Through proper channelization of talents, Legends of India attempts to provide cultural exposure to the people of every strata of the society. Legends of India pursues multifarious activities in order to enrich the cultural ethos and inculcate consciousness amongst people to promote, preserve and raise greater awareness and appreciation for the traditional performing arts and culture of India, among the uninitiated.
In its thirteen years of existence, Legends of India has effectively carried out the mandate of holding exhibitions of the visual arts and live concerts (Music, Dance) by 'Legends' and 'would be Legends' besides
Theatre Festival and Fine Art Exhibitions across the country. There has been a consistent effort to discover, nurture, stimulate and encourage young talents to share a common platform with the Legends besides introducing special program(s) to impart training.
Legends of India has also initiated the Legends of India Lifetime Achievement Award which is conferred on a living legend for his/her peerless contributions in Music/Dance/Theatre and Fine Arts. In keeping with our mandate, as a humble step towards mutual cultural exchange program in India and abroad, to encourage cultural and artistic exchange of ideas and techniques we have presented some of the legendary artists from across border to facilitate the interaction with world culture.
