Event Details : There is not one homogenizing point that measures the various ends of this labyrinthine passage called the ‘Urban Maze’. Like a structure that spreads from beginning to an end, there are many stages and aspects that come to define it from within. As humans approach and experience an excess of various kinds from all streams – social, cultural, spiritual, economical and historical, the premise of art which is essentially a mode of expression also becomes quite shaky entailing a kind of commotion. The works in this exhibition not only represent this frenetic pace but also attempt to seek a network that can result in pacification and unification of the urban disposition. Some works experiment with direct use of metaphors and connotations to create social alertness, and the artists working at the edge of the social matrix respond to the entropy created by the spin of industrial, mercantile, electronic expansion. The others tantalise in lyrical and symbolic manifestation of their banal situations painted beautifully to outdo their real self, approaching a surrealistic order.
