Event Details : Bhoomika presents a Training Workshop on Creative Movement Therapy
facilitated by Tripura Kashyap
Dance therapy involves the use of natural body movements to attain therapeutic goals. Dance therapists encourage participants to evolve a personal movement language to achieve holistic growth and healthier
functioning.
This therapy helps to increase the emotional-physical unity in individuals affecting positive changes in feelings, cognition, behavior and physical functioning. Participants also gain a better understanding of their movement potential and needs.
Taking part in individual, group and partnership activities, participants enhance their creativity, problem solving skills and team building capacities. While befriending their bodies through movement and interacting with others, participants learn to reinforce social skills more effectively.
This workshop consists of three broad segments. Theory includes historical evolution, techniques, principles and objectives of dance therapy. The practical segment consists of body awareness practices, warm ups, relaxation routines, creative movement activities and games in combination with techniques from Indian & western dance theatre.
The third segment consists of evaluation and assessment in which participants learn to analyze movement patterns and behavior.
The program is open to special educators, school teachers, dancers, actors, visual artists, team leaders, social workers and therapists.
The workshop will help participants use movement in sessions with children and adults they work with.
